Akingam, 05 October 2024: Govt Higher Secondary School Akingam celebrated International Teachers' Day with great enthusiasm, honoring the invaluable contributions of teachers in shaping the lives of students. The event began with a warm welcome for the teachers, who were greeted at the school entrance with roses as a token of appreciation for their dedication and commitment. The Head of the Institution, Mr. Mohammad Abass, inaugurated the program with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
The day’s proceedings were led by the anchors, Samiya Javeed of Class 12th and Nafiya Bashir of Class 9th, who did a commendable job in maintaining the vibrancy and enthusiasm throughout the event. To begin the program, Mr. Irfan Ahmad Badam, a respected faculty member, took the stage to highlight the significance of Teachers' Day and the vital role that educators play in society.
The program officially commenced with the recitation of the Quran by Muntaha Reyaz of Class 9th, invoking the blessings of Almighty Allah. Following this, Iqra Jan from Class 11th recited a Naat Sharif, paying homage to Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H.). A group of girls from Class 9th then performed a beautiful welcome song that set the stage for the rest of the program.

Lubna Jan from Class 11th delivered a thought-provoking speech comparing the differences between the present generation of students and those of the past, providing an interesting perspective on how education and the role of teachers have evolved.
The cultural segment of the program added color and energy to the celebrations. Hadiya and Salma from Class 9th performed an educational song dedicated to the teachers, while Naira Manzoor discussed the origins and purpose of Teachers' Day. Suhana and her group then performed a wonderful song to honor teachers, captivating the audience with their melodious voices. This was followed by a melodious performance by Khusboo Jan and Toiba from Class 11th, who sang a song in honor of teachers. Hadiya Mushtaq of Class 9th and Khushboo Nazir of Class 11th also gave inspiring speeches on the significant role of teachers in their lives.
A highlight of the day was a vibrant Kashmiri dance performance to the tune of "Bumroo," which celebrated the rich cultural heritage of Kashmir and brought smiles to the faces of all present. The students also performed Sufi Qawwali, led by Murtaza and his group, which honored teachers through a mesmerizing blend of music and dance.
Several teachers, including Mr. Talib Hussain and Mr. Sajad Ahmad, took the stage to share their experiences and express their gratitude for being part of such a wonderful institution. Mr. Mujeeb, Lecturer in Physical Education, delivered an inspiring speech about the profound impact teachers have had on his life, recalling the lasting influence of educators on his personal journey. Lecturer Fayaz Ahmad Attar delivered an insightful speech on the student-teacher relationship, emphasizing its importance in fostering a supportive and effective learning environment. Mr. Mohammad Ayoub, Senior Lecturer in Economics, also delivered a speech, highlighting that the highest award a teacher can receive is seeing their students achieve great heights in life, which serves as the true measure of a teacher's success and fulfillment.
The Head of the Institution, Mr. Mohammad Abass, also addressed the gathering, emphasizing the irreplaceable role of teachers in molding young minds. He shared personal experiences from his career, highlighting the dedication required in the noble profession of teaching.
The program concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Mr. Mohammad Yousuf, Lecturer in Botany.
